Ashram Gaushala (SAGB) is India’s premium research centre
engaged in the use of advanced genetic improvement and reproductive
technology to improve animal and agricultural productivity.
The Gaushala was founded in 1915 by Mahatma Gandhi. Considering
the importance of animal husbandry in providing a livelihood
to the poor, the Trust handed over SAGB’s management
to the National Dairy Development Board in 1973.
